Aotearoa Food Rescue Network needed to capture food waste data across 28 food rescue organisations. There was no shared system, diverse approaches to operations and record keeping and little clarity around what data to capture or how to capture it. I started with the hubs: user interviews, operational and data flow mapping as well as understanding what their funders, regulators and potential customers actually needed. We designed and iterated using a pipeline of Airtable databases and custom cron jobs to design a hub and spoke model, with high level data shared with AFRA and granular data kept in the hubs. We implemented BigQuery for reporting and designed the ability to capture provider specific waste and emissions data.

Elizabeth reached out with a problem and an idea — she'd seen our work with the Drug Foundation delivering Living Sober, a secure community for sharing your relationship with alcohol. I led the whole lifecycle: outcomes discovery, user research, solution architecture, UX and development. We built a parent-led community that advocated for parents of tamariki with high health needs and disabilities and collaborated with IHC to develop curated collections of articles and resources for parents. Over 1,000+ families reached.

Nature Through Arts Collective wanted to get young people outside and paying attention to the environment around them. They'd led a fully facilitated immersive experience with artists and scientists which was well received but not scalable. I led the research, design and delivery of a place-based mobile game in Wellington's Central Park — players defend Kaia, a virtual kākā, from predators by following physical clues through the park, using Facebook Messenger as the interface and optical AI to recognise signs and content. 600+ players across 2.5 months. Parents noticed their kids exploring the park differently in the months following.

NZ Government Procurement defines a set of Broader Outcomes that agencies are expected to pursue through their contracting — but these broader outcomes are, well, broad. I worked on this project with the Ākina Foundation, Auckland Transport and Beca amongst others to design and deliver an impact measurement framework that would allow both Tier 1 suppliers and SMEs to evidence the impact of their work according to a clear set of indicators, metrics and data points. 38 indicators, 139 metrics, structured around Supplier Operations, Buyer Operations and Contract Delivery.
